Lucky Dog is the official Snookums mascot, making
regular trips* to the delight of crew and
clients. On the dock, Lucky takes pelican
patrol seriously, shooing any that attempt to invade
his assigned territory.
Aboard the Snookums, Lucky looks after any fish
that hit the deck; picking them up (baitfish) or
just nuzzling and licking the larger fish. He was
surprised when a Mangrove Snapper latched onto his tongue.
Without a wimper, Lucky tried to back off but the
fish held fast. It took a little help from his friend
to separate the two. |

| *In many trips of 4 - 10 hours or
more, Lucky has suffered only one
"accident;" a minor "leak" that
was quickly washed out the scupper with a pail of
seawater. Lucky was mortified, so don't let him know
that I told you about it.
**Dr. Gary Howland, not to be
confused with Captain Gary Mahle, writes and teaches
computer graphics, occasionally crews on the
Snookums and produces the Hookum Snookums
Web site.
